Fact Checking Process

Sustainable Apparel Fact Checking Process Standards

At JaceApparel, our commitment to transparency is woven into every piece of content we produce. In an industry rife with “greenwashing,” we verify every claim against the highest global textile standards.

1. The Hierarchy of Evidence

We do not rely on brand-issued marketing kits or generic “eco-friendly” labels. Our verification follows a strict hierarchy:

  • Primary Technical Data: We prioritize Transaction Certificates (TCs) and Scope Certificates (SCs) from accredited third-party auditors like Control Union or SGS.
  • Material Verification: Evidence must come from the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) database or OEKO-TEX® Label Check to ensure chemical safety and organic integrity.
  • Labor Ethics: We cross-reference manufacturer claims against SEDEX/SMETA audit reports or Fair Labor Association (FLA) data.
  • Unacceptable Sources: We explicitly reject “self-certified” sustainability reports or PR statements that lack verifiable data points or third-party certification numbers.

2. Niche-Specific Verification: Supply Chain Traceability

Before publishing any claim regarding a garment’s origin or environmental impact, our team performs a Traceability Audit. This involves:

  • Batch Tracking: Verification that the specific fiber used matches the claimed farm or mill of origin.
  • Chemical Analysis Review: For technical apparel, we review Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to ensure the absence of restricted substances (RSL) like lead or phthalates.

3. Real-World Correction Scenario

Correction Notice (Example): “In our January 12th review of the ‘E-Series Joggers,’ we stated the fabric was 100% Post-Consumer Recycled Polyester. Upon a secondary audit of the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certificate, it was identified that the blend contains 15% virgin elastane. We have updated the product specifications and notified our production team to adjust future labeling.”
