How to choose your hoodie fabric

Weight (GSM) sets the warmth and drape, the fibre sets the hand-feel and the price. Match both to the use-case, then confirm the exact cloth and blend on the quote so what you approve is what you get.

The Hood Drawstring, Cut to Your Spec

Every part of the cord is chosen at the quote — the tape, the tip and the hole — so it fits the hood and the brand, not a stock default.

A round hoodie drawstring cord

01

Round cord

A single turned cord, the standard on most hoodies. Cotton, polyester, or a recycled blend.

A flat woven hoodie drawstring tape

02

Flat drawstring

A woven tape that lies flat against the chest. Reads cleaner under an all-over or chest print.

A hoodie drawstring aglet tip and eyelet

03

Aglet & eyelet

The tip and the hole are the parts that show — metal, plastic or knotted tips, with a metal ring or a buttonhole eyelet.

One check

  • Drawstrings are restricted on children's garments in a number of markets — the EU, the US and several others — because a long, loose cord around the neck is a snag and strangulation risk.
  • If the run is for kids, tell us the age range up front and we'll spec a safe alternative rather than a standard cord.
  • A shorter cord that can't form a full loop, a toggled or breakaway drawstring, or a fully cordless hood with a sewn closure.
  • We'll note which rule applies and what we've done to meet it on the quote, so the sample you approve is the garment that ships — no last-minute compliance surprise.

Compare Us on the Numbers, Not a Sales Pitch

Send the design, target GSM, sizes and quantity. The quote returns with a dated sample and production window, so you weigh the three routes side by side on facts.

How we compare

Us, a Print-on-Demand Site, or a High-MOQ Factory

Three routes to a custom hoodie. The honest difference is where the order size sits and how much of the garment you actually control.

Shipping & payment

Freight can be DDP, DAP or DPU — we price it door-to-door, or you use your own forwarder. Pay the sample first, then a milestone on the bulk; the split is itemised on the quote.

Care & wash

Wash inside-out in cold water and keep the tumble heat low. Custom prints and embroidery hold up best when they are not tumble-dried on high.

What to send to start

A sketch, photo or spec sheet is enough: the design, target GSM, sizes, quantity and where it ships. We turn it into the tech pack and a dated quote.

In their own words

What the Brands behind the Hoodies Say

Two repeats from the buyers we make hoodies for — the problem, how we handled it, and what they got.

Testimonial 1 DTC Apparel Brand Founder

Pain point

  • Many hoodie suppliers enforce a minimum of several hundred units and take two weeks or more to develop a sample.
  • Slow turnaround delays product launches and makes small-batch concept testing uneconomical.
  • Many factories charge extra revision fees for embroidery artwork tweaks, raising pre-launch costs.

Solution

  • Trial orders start at 100 units, and custom samples finish within 7–10 days.
  • Embroidery artwork adjustments are handled without additional revision fees.
  • The production team shares clear progress updates at every stage, from fabric sourcing to pre-shipment QC.

Benefit

  • A shorter sampling cycle gets the hoodie line to market sooner.
  • Small test runs validate designs before mass production, cutting inventory risk.
  • Consistent embroidery detail across all batches keeps product reviews strong and repeat orders growing.

“We wanted to test a few hoodie designs before committing to a full run, and most suppliers made that uneconomical. JaceApparel let us start small and sample quickly, so we could validate designs first. Consistent embroidery detail across the batches kept our reviews strong and repeat orders growing.”

Testimonial 2 Streetwear Wholesale Buying Manager

Pain point

  • Prior manufacturers delivered bulk hoodies with too many defects.
  • Colour deviation between swatches and finished goods, plus rework, generated refund claims from retail partners.
  • Multiple shipments missed deadlines, damaging long-term wholesale contracts.

Solution

  • Colour standards are locked with pre-production fabric swatches, and full pre-shipment QC runs on every batch.
  • Any detected flaws get fixed before packing.
  • The sales team provides transparent timelines and alerts immediately if any material delays emerge.

Benefit

  • Defects drop sharply and deliveries hold their window across repeat bulk shipments.
  • Retail complaints fall sharply and rework expenses drop.
  • Stable quality helped secure new long-term wholesale accounts within one production season.

“Earlier manufacturers sent bulk hoodies with too many defects and colour that drifted from the swatch, which created refund claims from our retail partners. Locking colour with pre-production swatches and running pre-shipment QC on every batch changed that. Complaints fell, rework dropped, and the steady quality helped us win new long-term accounts.”

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Hoodie Manufacturer

01What is the smallest hoodie order you take?

From 100 pcs per colour. The minimum attaches to a colour rather than a size, so one colour in four sizes is still a single 100-piece threshold.

Ask about a hoodie run
02Can I get a sample before the bulk run?

Yes. Send the brief and we quote a pre-production hoodie ahead of any bulk run. The sample fee and its window are listed separately on the quote, and nothing runs until you approve the fit.

Ask about a hoodie run
03What customisation options do you offer?

Decoration is screen print, all-over sublimation or embroidery. Woven and tagless labels, hangtags and care marks go on before packing.

Ask about a hoodie run
04Which fabrics can you supply?

Eight working cloths — cotton, cotton-poly blend, polyester, fleece, French terry, organic cotton, recycled polyester and heather — matched to your target GSM and confirmed on the quote. Low-impact dye is available on request.

Ask about a hoodie run
05What size ranges can you produce?

Standard hoodie grading is S–3XL. 4XL–5XL can be added — the size run is whatever your tech pack specifies.

Ask about a hoodie run
06What is production & shipping lead-time?

Bulk hoodies take 7–15 days. Add 5–7 days if the order flies, or 30–45 if it sails; DDP, DAP and DPU are all available.

Ask about a hoodie run
07Can you create original artwork or use my own design?

Yes. Bring a sketch or a finished design file; the pattern, print and embroidery are developed from it and proofed before the run.
